Educator. Doctoral student. Bridge builder. Tiny dog parent. Aspiring cowgirl.

Lisa Hammershaimb is a visual designer whose research investigates community, presence, and the porous borders between here/there + digital/physical that we navigate daily. Affirming all participants as valuable, Lisa is committed to building inclusive online structures that nurture creativity.

Pixels + Tweed is part of Lisa Hammershaimb's doctoral research with Athabasca University. Lisa's research focuses on the ways educators are choosing to extend + augment studio learning via the internet. By providing insight into networked and non-traditional studio practices, Lisa hopes to shed light on how graphic design online learning can not only be used to replicate the learning dynamics of face to face studios but also teach students new literacies so they can navigate and ultimately thrive in an increasingly interconnected design world.

Ultimately, Lisa hopes her work to inspires design educators to be brave in the face of complexity, creating spaces where students can confidently learn to navigate and ultimately thrive in an increasingly interconnected design world.
